Andy Wall is a botanist with a passion for the protection, conservation, and restoration of native plants in Appalachia. His botanical experience includes project work in floristics, habitat restoration, invasive species management, species-distribution modeling, and dendrochronology.

Andy received his B.S. in Ethnobotany with a minor in Forestry from Frostburg State University in western Maryland. Following his undergraduate studies, he took a brief break to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail before beginning his professional botany career with the West Virginia DNR in 2021. After gaining experience as a field botanist, Andy enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he received his M.S. in Environmental Science. His thesis work included a comprehensive inventory of the vascular plant species within the nearby Cloudland Canyon State Park in Georgia.

Andy joined CVI in 2026, stationed at the USFWS’s Appalachian Conservation Office in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. He is excited to be back in West Virginia, using the knowledge and skills he’s developed to further CVI’s mission of stewarding and protecting the natural resources of Central Appalachia.
