The South Branch of the Potomac River Survey:
A comprehensive inventory of streambank erosion
along a West Virginia river

south branch
Severe streambank erosion has degraded landowners' property along the South Branch of the Potomac in West Virginia. Local stakeholders, whose property is affected, formed the South Branch Watershed Association of Hampshire County (SBWAHC) in the Fall of 2001 to begin work on resolving this problem.

As organizational representation broadened, stakeholders became more aware of additional concerns. Understanding deepened regarding the impact of land use and natural ecological factors on the health and sustainability of the watershed.
