"A Job Well Done, Done Well"

The Wastewater Treatment Coalition of McDowell County began meeting in 2002 with a primary goal in mind-they wanted to provide wastewater treatment to as much of McDowell County as possible; and do it in a manner that was as cost effective to construct and operate as possible. The long and winding road of this process has recently made its first major stop in Ashland, WV.

CVI Receives Trail Funding

Canaan Valley Institute Land Manager Ken Dzaack (right) was present to receive grant funding from West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin in a ceremony held in Charleston on August 11, 2009. CVI was awarded $65,623 in federal funds to construct 3.1 miles of multi-use trail near Davis, WV. This new length of connector trail will be located on CVI property south of the Blackwater River and will add to existing trail miles.

CVI Welcomes New Board Member

Dale Watring recently joined the CVI Board of Director’s. Born and raised in Tucker County—home of CVI--Dale graduated from the local high school before heading off to attend West Virginia University. There he received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, which was followed by a master’s and doctorate degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He worked ten years for NASA. In 1997, he and his wife, Lisa, founded Watring Technologies, Inc., in Huntsville, Alabama. Watring Technologies, Inc. provides a vast range of applications from space-based defense systems to solar powered water pumps for third world countries. It was awarded Huntsville/Madison County Small Business Manufacturer of the Year for 2002.
