As one of the first conference facilities in WV with a LEED certification of Silver, you can breathe easier when you plan your conference or meeting at Canaan Valley Institute's Research and Education Center, literally. Our facility has been designed using sustainable building design technologies, including using materials that substantially improve indoor air quality. From locally sourced and recycled materials, to water conservation and treatment, the REC will provide a spectacular and environmentally conscious venue for your event or gathering.
Nestled on the edge of our 3000 acre campus off Route 93 near Davis, WV, the REC offers additional outdoor opportunities including gentle hiking trails, superb fishing in the Blackwater River, and adventurous terrain for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts.
 With over 6,000 square feet of flexible conference and meeting space, Canaan Valley Institute's Research and Education Center is well equipped to host your next conference, meeting, workshop, or special occasion. From large conferences to small meetings, our experienced conference center staff will assist you in planning and executing events to meet your specific needs.
Our Jewel Conference Room, with 120 person capacity, can be divided into three smaller rooms, all with state-of-the-art audio visual equipment. Our tiered computer lab is equipped with 30 computer stations and is specifically designed for teacher computer-based classes. Additionally we have a teaching lab that will accommodate 17 students and the Clower Run Boardroom (?) is the perfect size for an intimate meeting for up to 15 people.
Our conference center staff will work with you to design the best possible menu for your event. By working with local caterers, we have the flexibility to meet your needs in both menu options and budget.
